So, Why “NEARLYEPIC”?!

Q: Why did you choose “Nearly Epic” for the name of this website?

A: Because every human life is a poem, and, metaphorically and epically asymptotic

We are all children of perfect Heavenly Parents. Is not that EPIC?

Line upon line, precept on precept, here a little, there a little…

So, No, Really, Why Nearly EPIC?

From the time I was a young man:

  • charged with the responsibilities and the obligations
  • to give unto others of (your) spirit and of the Doctrines of the Heavens
  • your influence may be wide in scope and that you may influence many to grasp (the Gospel of Jesus Christ)
  • Your words shall be given in a convincing way to the unbeliever and through the Spirit many shall come into the faith
  • through your teachings and your instructions and your life (your family and extended family) shall learn much [instruction as a father]
  • You shall find great joy in teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ for in its truth you shall go forth
  • be virtuous and pure in heart that you may teach these great virtues, that mankind may be changed through your testament
  • To repent, to go forth, and to do better and to teach others of the great principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

And, if that’s not enough to motivate:

Doctrine and Covenants 58

26 For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward.

27 Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;

28 For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward.

29 But he that doeth not anything until he is commanded, and receiveth a commandment with doubtful heart, and keepeth it with slothfulness, the same is damned.

30 Who am I that made man, saith the Lord, that will hold him guiltless that obeys not my commandments?

31 Who am I, saith the Lord, that have promised and have not fulfilled?

32 I command and men obey not; I revoke and they receive not the blessing.

33 Then they say in their hearts: This is not the work of the Lord, for his promises are not fulfilled. But wo unto such, for their reward lurketh beneath, and not from above.
