“There never was a time when there were not Gods and worlds and when men were not passing through the same ordeals that we are now passing through.” (Young, B., Deseret News, 16 November 1859, p. 290.)
Joseph Smith taught that “the Holy Ghost is yet a spiritual body and waiting to take to himself a body, as the Savior did or as God did or the gods before them took bodies; for the Savior says the work that my Father did do I also. . . . He took himself a body and then laid down his life that he might take it up again.” (Joseph Smith, The Words of Joseph Smith, p. 382; standardized)
What is the primary mission and purpose of the Holy Ghost? LDS doctrine may be VERY different from what you learned in Sunday School.
Certainly, if God is Omnipotent, He can do or be “anything.” Or, can He? Why is an Holy Ghost necessary? What Natural Laws does God submit Himself to?
Is the role, mission and purpose of Holy Ghost necessary to Godhead, something the Father is subject to? (Science and politics.)
What are the benefits to having an Holy Ghost in a replicable, perpetual Plan? Benefits to Father’s children? Benefits to the personage as Holy Ghost, himself?
The Hypothetical Answer: To prepare (test) other “sons of the morning” to satisfy the requirement for Saviors in other Gods’ Kingdoms. (The Church is a training Church of perpetual leadership, the Temple is the Lord’s training Institution/House/University, God’s Plan is a training Organization for imperfect children to become Perfected Parents.)

“The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us.” (Doctrine and Covenants 130:22)
Our Heavenly Father has a body of flesh and bones. Our Savior, the Only Begotten Son, has a body of flesh and bones.
Because the Father and the Son have bodies of flesh and bones, they cannot dwell “in us.” Because the Father and the Son are resurrected beings (i.e. unembodied > disembodied > reimbodied), it is not possible for them to personally permeate (move through) our bodies, as an unembodied spirit appears to have the capability of doing, in some cases. (Evil unembodied spirits may influence our spirits through the yielding of our agency. How does this happen? Evil spirits taking over swine bodies. (Mark 5))
One of the purposes of the Holy Ghost is to intangibly connect with, and influence, spirit matter. Our bodies are infused with spirit matter. The spirit and the body are the soul of man.

“The Holy Ghost is now in a state of probation which if he should perform in righteousness he may pass through the same or a similar course of things that the Son has.” (Joseph Smith, The Words of Joseph Smith, p. 245; Sabbath Address, Nauvoo, 27 August 1843, Reported by Franklin D Richards.)
This reference may logically lead us to the inference that the pre-mortal Jesus Christ (Old Testament, YHWH) was an Holy Ghost, or filled a similar function, prior to his roles as Savior and Redeemer (as designation and priesthood assignment, fore-ordained in the Great Council in Heaven). And, by extension, our Father, the pre-mortal Elohim (El) was an Holy Ghost, or filled a similar assignment, before becoming a “human” and “Savior” during His earthly, mortal experience. (John 5:16) And, so on, and so on, etc., etc., etc.
“There never was a time when there were not Gods and worlds and when men were not passing through the same ordeals that we are now passing through.” (Young, B., Deseret News, 16 November 1859, p. 290.)
[See diagram below]

It appears the Holy Ghost is now in a state of “training” for role as “Savior,” or similar assignment.
Therefore, the being who is currently fulfilling the assignment as an Holy Ghost, is a “more intelligent” spirit Son of a God from an Associate Kingdom, who is preparing to send His children to a world(s) for their earthly experience. The Holy Ghost, pre-requisite, is to be a Son of the Morning. Certain pre-Plan male priesthood holders/leaders (“more intelligent,” larger spirits [see Abraham 3:19] have the “capacity” to fulfill, with perfection [or near perfection, i.e. Lucifer] assignment in perfect righteousness). Each Kingdom of Godm is occupied by many assigned spirits who have the capability to be potential Saviors, so as to mitigate the potential for failure while adopting a Heavenly Father’s Plan. (Agency and Opposition play into outcomes.)
Perhaps, Lucifer was a member of a godhead, in his role as an Holy Ghost, making him a “god” just as much as the Holy Ghost in Elohim’s Kingdom, is a “god.” Why do you think the heavens wept when he fell and took billions of our Heavenly Parents’ children off the COVENANT PATH? (Again, Agency and Opposition.) If we’re going to further speculate, Lucifer may have been one of the more “popular” Sons of the Morning/Holy Ghost, which means among the dissenting spirit children, there may have been other Sons of the Morning/Holy Ghosts not mentioned in the scriptures, who help to lure away/lead astray a larger host. (Think not? How about: , Alma 30:18 (Korihor), Alma 1:5 (Nehor), 3 Nephi 7:9 (Jacob), and of course, Mosiah 27 (ATY), which has a better outcome, other than the inevitable “scorched earth,” left by other Anti-Christs. And, by the way, this is only a partial list of guys that were part of the two-thirds of God’s children that accepted the challenge to come to this earth. How about Cain, Hitler, others?)
***This statement may conflict with Millennial Star, Vol. 4, pp 49-55. If the Holy Ghost fills the duties of a Savior, He wouldn’t be able to do it in Elohim’s Kingdom, as that priesthood assignment/responsibility has already been fulfilled by Jesus Christ–an Infinite Atonement. (2 Nephi 9:7) Infinite and Eternal are Endless. (D&C 19) Also, BR McConkie said: “expressions on these matters are both speculative and fruitless.” (MD, McConkie) Why then would his son (Joseph Fielding McConkie) make statements to the contrary?!

Another key doctrine in determining the relationship of the Holy Ghost to the Father is that the role “Savior of Creation” has already been fulfilled by Jesus Christ–because the Creator is the Savior. For the Holy Ghost to be a Savior in Elohim’s Kingdom, he would need to be the Creator, and God created all things by the Son. So, the Holy Ghost is not Elohim’s Atoning Son, nor can he be in the future.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
D&C 14:9Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God, who created the heavens and the earth…
Moses 1:33And worlds without number have I created; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the Son I created them, which is mine Only Begotten.
The Holy Ghost is not a son of our Heavenly Father. Why would Elohim prepare another “Son” to perform an Atonement, if Jesus Christ (YHWH) has already preformed an Infinite and Eternal Atonement for all of Elohim’s creations, all that have existed, and all that will exist?!
